How to review MetaTrader history in a trading journal

A practical workflow for checking account compatibility, reviewing drawdown and recording strategy and emotion notes in ATAI Trading Journal.

Start with account compatibility

Before choosing journal access, identify your MetaTrader platform and the exact broker server shown in your terminal. Support needs this information to check compatibility. Platform support is specific to the connection; do not assume every broker server is available. Ask which history import options are supported if a direct connection is unavailable.

Use the read-only connection workflow

The ATAI journal is designed to read trading data rather than place orders. A supported account connection uses an Investor password in the secure connection form. Keep your trading password private and never paste passwords into a support message. Explore the public demo first, and read its account and data-source labels.

Check the history before interpreting statistics

Choose a portfolio and a review period. Look at the underlying trades and make sure the available history covers the period you intend to review. Review profit and loss alongside drawdown, exposure and consistency. A short sample or an incomplete import can give a misleading impression of a strategy.

Add context to each trade

Record the setup you intended to trade, your entry reasoning and relevant emotion notes. Use consistent strategy names so later reviews compare similar trades. A result alone cannot explain whether you followed your process. Review both winning and losing trades against the same written criteria.

Read AI findings alongside the source trades

Use the journal review as a starting point for examining your history. Check a finding against the actual trades, notes and statistics before changing your process. Recorded patterns describe the supplied history; they do not guarantee the next result. ATAI supports up to three independent portfolios; check current access terms on the product page.
